You don't have to be a seasoned spelunker to see some serious cavern - steer for Mammoth Cave National Park, a cave system that shelters several hundred miles of subterranean tunnels, some of which can be seen on a guided tour.
Trail #401 and a segment of the Sheltowee Trace form a 5.7 mile loop that can be accessed from the trailheads at Bee Rock Campground, KY 192, and Forest Road 119.
Hikers will enjoy the variety of scenery along the trail. The 1.8 mile segment winds along the cliffs above Cane Creek before descending through the cliffline at a small waterfall and proceeding along side Cane Creek to a junction with trail #402. The 2.1 mile segment provides views of the Class III whitewater of the Rockcastle Narrows. The 0.6 mile segment meanders along Yuel Branch before rejoining the Sheltowee Trace NRT.
