Located in the heart of the Smoky Hills, Wilson State Park is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the state. Wilson is divided into 2 areas, Hell Creek and Otoe Park, that both offer utility and primitive camping. The park and surrounding wildlife area offer the opportunity to view and photograph deer, pheasant, waterfowl, songbirds, and furbears. Hunting is allowed on the wildlife area during season. Wilson Reservoir also offers excellent white bass and striped bass angling. Hiking on the Dakota Trail offers an excellent view of the lake and native Kansas prairie. The Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail provides a challengng 13-mile trek over rugged terrain. The Cedar Trail in the Otoe area is a one-mile loop with a hardened asphalt surface and is great for a leisurely, low-stress walk.
