Reel in your anchor or lunker fish and set off for some secluded stretch of shoreline on one of the biggest man-made lakes on the Atlantic side of the Mississippi, Lake Cumberland, popular with houseboaters, anglers and water-sports fiends.
The Wintergreen Trail, a loop trail, provides access to the campground amphitheater and Laurel River Lake. The first 200 yards of the trail are paved. The trail loops around the west side of the amphitheater and follows a small drainage which is rich with ferns. It then joins Trail #100 (Sheltowee Trace) and skirts the edge of the lake below H-Loop. Wintergreen Trail leaves the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail and returns up hill to the amphitheater.
