It's a mere two minutes that Louiseville, home of the Kentucky Derby, is best known for, but venture beyond the track and find this flourishing riverside city also plays host to a good range of cultural attractions and a number of natural retreats.
The Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery (NFH) was established in 1975. Their mission is to provide rainbow and brown trout for mitigation stocking in Kentucky; provide a refuge for threatened or endangered aquatic species and develop techniques required to culture these species; and establish and maintain a "Friends Group" to gain community support for the fish hatchery. For more than 150,000 visitors yearly, the hatchery provides tours, off-site presentations, a display room, and a handicapped accessible public fishing area. In June, they open the Annual Kids Fishing Derby held during National Fishing Week.
