Kentucky's second oldest city, Bardstown, is a spirited town: both religious and the distilled variety. Located at the center of the state's "bourbon trail," Bardstown is also home to an abbey and a basilica. Harrodsburg, Kentucky's oldest town, was the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Neighboring town Danville, a small college town, bills itself as a quiet alternative to bigger cities. Historic sites dot these two towns in central Kentucky.

Georgetown is a scenic little town nestled in a mountain valley west of Denver. Though only a mile from the interstate, the distance means Georgetown is less crowded than the neighboring resort towns. Located on the banks of the Ohio River, Louisville is Kentucky's largest city. The eyes of the world are on Louisville each year when the Kentucky Derby is run here, and there are museums, galleries, concert halls and nightclubs in abundance.
